Chapters of Pride Book Club with PFLAG

Pflag Niagara will lead a discussion about “This Is How It Always Is”, a novel by Laurie Frankel that follows a family navigating the challenges of raising a child who is transgender. The story centers on Claude (later Poppy), who experiences gender dysphoria and transitions from a boy to a girl, while their parents, Rosie and Penn, grapple with their child’s evolving identity and the societal expectations surrounding it. The narrative explores themes of family, love, acceptance, and the complexities of gender, offering a poignant look at the journey of a modern family facing unique challenges.
