1. Overview

This guide outlines travel logistics, meeting points, communication protocols, transit instructions, and parade day preparation for participants travelling from the Niagara region to Toronto Pride.  

Our goal is to arrive together, stay coordinated, and participate safely and proudly as a unified pflag Canada contingent.


2. GO Transit – Weekend Day Pass

The GO Transit Weekend Day Pass is recommended for all participants.

Cost

  • $10 per person
  • Unlimited GO travel for the entire day (Saturday, Sunday, or holiday)

  3. Save confirmation email on your phone

Activation Rules

  • Pass is not valid until activated
  • Activate 5–10 minutes before boarding your GO Bus
  • Requires internet connection to activate

What the Pass Covers

The pass includes:

  • GO Bus from Niagara region → Burlington GO
  • GO Train from Burlington GO → Union Station
  • Return GO transit travel from Union Station to Niagara region
  • No additional GO fare is required for transfers

Important Notes

  • One pass per person (age 13+)
  • Children 12 and under ride GO free
  • Screenshots are not accepted—must show active mobile pass

3. GO Bus Departures (Niagara Region → Burlington GO)

Double-check the GO Transit app on travel day and be at your departure point at least 10 minutes early in case of any change of schedule.

If you have arranged to pick up your t-shirt at Fairview Mall GO please arrive before 8:30 and look for the pflag Niagara banner and our group in bright blue t-shirts

Transportation to Toronto on Sunday will be EXTRA busy so be sure to allow MORE time than you think you will need

To arrive in Toronto with enough time to get to our meeting point, take GO Bus Route 12:

  • Niagara Falls Bus Terminal: ~8:21 a.m.
  • NOTL (Taylor Rd Park & Ride): ~8:35 a.m.
  • St. Catharines (Fairview Mall): ~8:49 a.m.
  • Beamsville Park & Ride: ~9:22 a.m.
  • Grimsby Park & Ride: ~9:35 a.m.
  • Arrive Burlington GO: ~10:11 a.m.

Connect to the next available GO Train to Union Station.


4. Arrival in Toronto & TTC Instructions

At Union Station

  • Follow signs to TTC subway (Line 1 Yonge–University)

TTC Payment Options

  • PRESTO card
  • Debit/credit tap
  • Mobile wallet (Apple Pay / Google Pay)

Important

  • Each rider must use their own payment method
  • One tap = one rider only
  • No shared taps allowed

5. Subway Route to Wellesley Station

  • Board Line 1 northbound
  • Travel 3 stops from Union Station
  • Exit at Wellesley Station

6. Walking Route: Wellesley Station → Barbara Hall Park

  • Exit Wellesley Station 
  • Walk left (east) on Wellesley Street East to Church Street
  • Turn left (north) on Church Street
  • Walk 1 block along Church Street (continuing north) to just past 519 Church Street
  • Enter Barbara Hall Park (just past The 519 building) on the right (east) side

Meeting Point

  • North-east corner of Barbara Hall Park  (just past The 519 building)
  • Look for our pflag Niagara banner and our group in our bright blue t-shirts

7. Timing

  • Arrive at Barbara Hall Park: by 12:15 p.m.
  • Group departure to parade staging: 12:30 p.m.
  • Parade start time: 2:00 p.m.

Late arrivals can still join using Glympse/Discord updates.


8. If You Become Separated from the group

  • Do not search through crowds for individuals
  • Go directly to:
    • Barbara Hall Park meeting point before 12:30, or
    • Location shown on Glympse if after 12:30
  • Monitor Discord updates for instructions
  • Remain in a safe public area if unsure

9. Communication Plan

We will use:

Used for real-time group location tracking after arrival in Toronto.

All participants are encouraged to:

  • Install the Glympse app before Parade Day.
  • Join and share the custom tag https://glympse.com/!prideparade2026
  • Keep location sharing enabled while travelling from Wellesley Station to our assembly area.
  • Monitor the map to help locate fellow chapter members and organizers.

  • Brief updates will be posted periodically (i.e. leaving Wellesley Station, arrived at Barbara Hall Park, etc.)
  • No responses will be provided to questions in Discord during the event

Important

  • No phone calls, texts, emails, or DMs will be monitored on parade day

10. TTC Subway Entry (Important Rules)

  • One person per tap
  • Each rider must have their own:
    • PRESTO card
    • Debit/credit card
    • Mobile wallet
  • Tap once only at fare gate
  • Wait for green confirmation before entering

11. Parade Day Preparation

What to Wear

  • Comfortable walking shoes (essential)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
  • Pride colours encouraged

What to Bring

  • Water bottle–fill before leaving home
  • Snacks
  • Phone + portable charger
  • Transit payment method
  • ID
  • Small backpack or cross-body bag

Expect to Walk

Participants should expect:

  • Transit walking connections
  • Walking from Wellesley → meeting point
  • Walking to parade staging area
  • Walking the full parade route

Total walking may reach 5–10 km or more.


12. Weather & Safety

Be prepared for:

  • Heat or sun exposure
  • Rain or wind
  • Large crowds and limited shade

Stay hydrated and rest when possible.


13. General Safety Notes

  • Stay with group whenever possible
  • Follow instructions from organizers
  • Use Glympse and Discord for updates
  • If delayed, proceed safely—do not rush through crowds

14. Final Reminder

Toronto Pride is a large, joyful, and high-energy event. Our priority is safety, accessibility, and staying connected as a group while representing pflag Canada with pride and respect.
